The Best Iced Coffee + #HotSummerEats

I have another delicious recipe for Hot Summer Eats!  For this post I received a great book, Summer Cocktails from Quirk Books,  where I found this recipe. All opinions and thoughts about the product are 100% my own.

For more information about Hot Summer Eats, the sponsors and bloggers be sure to check my earlier post.

My Name is Danielle and I am a coffee addict.  It's true, I love coffee!  In the mornings I am a purist, I like a hot cup of black coffee.  In the afternoons, if I am craving a caffeine fix I will normally change it up a bit.  I am sitting here writing this post with my new afternoon addiction sitting right next to me.  This Iced Coffee is seriously the BEST Iced Coffee I have had yet.

I found this easy, sweet and refreshing recipe in this Summer Cocktails book. This book is from Quirk Books and it is full of so many wonderful summer treats.

I actually used two recipes from here for this.  First, I made a simple syrup using the directions from this book:

For Symple Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Directions:
Combine both ingredients in a small saucepan.  Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce to medium and cook, stirring mixture often until sugar dissolves.  Let this syrup cool before using,  This can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.

The second recipe was for the iced coffee
For Iced Coffee
Ingredients:
1 cup of freshly brewed strong coffee, cooled
Simple Syrup, to taste (I used 2 tablespoons)
Sweetened condensed milk, to taste (I used 2 tablespoons)
2 ounces of Baileys or Kahlua (Optional)  - I didn't have any in the house but I will make it again and try it for sure
Ice

Directions:
Stir together all ingredients and in a glass and add ice.

Check out the layers of this amazing drink in the picture above, I thought it was so pretty.  After you take the time to enjoy the layers of flavor, go ahead and mix it up good and enjoy the combination of flavors.  I love the sweetness and creaminess you get from both the symple syrup and the condensed milk. I'm getting ready to make another glass to sip outside.

  1. I am a huge iced coffee (caramel usually) lover but have yet to really try it at home - thank you for inspiring me, definitely giving this one a try this afternoon. My 16-year old might have fun testing this one out with me. :)
