So refreshing and so delicious, this drink made me think of warmer days.
This month is my first month blogging with Group A. I had been with Group B for a number of years now and I already miss them but I am thrilled to checkout a whole new set of blogs and learn about the bloggers behind them. I was assigned La Cocina de Leslie I had such a difficult time deciding on which of Leslie's great recipes to make. We love Picadillo in our house and I can not wait to try her version. One of my favorite desserts of all time is rice pudding, this Mexican Chocolate Arroz con Leche sounds divine. Ultimately, it was this Grapefruit Margarita that I chose, I saw it and just felt drawn to it. I don't know if its because I love grapefruit or if it was the brown sugar simple syrup that grabbed my attention or maybe it was the need to try a summery drink to remind me that warmer days are ahead. Whatever it was, I am so glad I chose to give this recipe a try and I promise you - in the summer months - pitchers of these will be plentiful around here.
recipe from La Cocina de Leslie
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup light brown sugar
4 cups fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1 - 1 1/2 cups of tequila (depending on taste preference)
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
Make the brown sugar simple syrup by combining the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and then remove mixture from the heat. Let it cool room temp while you prepare the rest of the drink.
Moisten the rims of 4-6 glasses with the lime and dip in salt.
In a pitcher combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, tequila and brown sugar simple syrup. Mix well and serve over ice in the rimmed glasses.
