Celebrate the 4th of July with CK Mondavi Wines and Strawberry Basil Sangria

These delicious wines showed up at my door for sampling, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
I had the opportunity to try The Blond Five, a Chardonnay, Scarlet Five and a Cabernet.  All were delicious and all would be a great choice for upcoming festivities.
CK Mondavi is the perfect 4th of July wine. Not only is it the only wine in this price point to be 100% American made & grown, but a percentage of sales goes to supporting veterans. Both my father and father-in-law were veterans (we just lost my father-in-law this past week and my dad 6 years ago) it makes me proud to know I am donating to this great cause.
Funded entirely by public donations, IFHF serves U.S. military personnel wounded or killed in service to our nation and their families. For more information, visit www.fallenheroesfund.org.

Here is how I will be serving the only American made and grown wine this year.

I love making sangria for celebrations.  My niece is a great sangria creator and every time a holiday comes up we find ourselves texting or calling each other trying to come up with a great combination of flavors. When I saw the abundance of basil growing in my garden I knew I had to make this Strawberry Basil Sangria that she told me about.  And I knew I had the perfect CK Mondavi Chardonnay to use in it.

recipe adapted from Mother Nature Network
    Ingredients:
    1/2 pound fresh strawberries,  sliced
    1 apple, chopped
1 small handful fresh basil leaves, torn
    1 bottle CK Mondavi Chardonnay
    1/2 cup sugar
    11/2 cups club soda
1 cup clear fruit juice (I had a Caprisun in the pantry and used that)

    Directions:
Add the fruit, basil and sugar to a large pitcher.  Let this sit for about 10 minutes so the juices release and the flavors come together.  Add the club soda to the pitcher along with the juice and the wine.

    Stir, Serve and enjoy!
