Lemon Rosemary Martini

A rosemary simple syrup combines with refreshing lemon to make the perfect martini.

I enjoy making my own simple syrup and infusing it with great flavors.  My favorite is ginger, like I made when I created this Ginger- Citrus Margarita.  When I heard about this Lemon Rosemary Martini made with rosemary simple syrup on the Chew one day, I knew I had to give it a try.  Not to mention these flavors of fresh lemon and rosemary seem like the perfect combination for this beautiful weather we are finally having.  Picture yourself sitting outside on a gorgeous day with this bright and refreshing martini in hand.

Are you ready to learn how to make this?  First let's start with the Rosemary Simple Syrup:

1 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
3 sprigs Rosemary

Heat both the water and sugar to a boil, add the rosemary and take off the heat.  Let sit for about a half an hour and then strain into a glass jar.

For the Lemon Rosemary Martini:

2 ounces vodka
1 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce of rosemary simple syrup
lemon peel
*club soda (optional)

Add the ice to a shaker and then add in the vodka, lemon juice and syrup. Shake it up and strain into a chilled martini glass.  Squeeze the lemon peel over the top of the glass and drop it in.
* I like to top mine with a bit of club soda for a little effervescence.

Last year at this time I made Falafels and Tzatziki.
Two years ago I made Chipotle Chicken and Rice.
Three years ago I made Tandoori Chicken and Cucumber Raita.

Linking up to these happening parties!
