Simple Magazine Holder

Don't forget to enter my giveaway.  Who needs a $25 Gift Card to Publix?

It's been a while since I posted a craft on my site.  Here is a simple one.  This Magazine Holder is so easy to make.  My kids have already made their own and they are scattered all over the house.  Can you guess what I made this out of?  This is an empty cereal box that I covered with some coordinating paper.  I love that I now have a place to put some of my cooking magazines.  It won't hold all of them of course, but if I have a few that I have earmarked a recipe or two to make I leave it in here for easy access.  Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the process (even though I had plenty of opportunities.  I think Sweet Girl has 3 in her room and Little Man made one.)  Fortunately, it's easy to explain:

Take your empty cereal box and mark off, with a ruler, how high you are going to want the opening to be (this is the side where you see my martini glass paper.)  Now lay the box down and grab a ruler (now we are on the the side of the diamond pattern paper you see above.)  Place one end of the ruler on the mark you made and then run the ruler up to the top corner, forming a diagonal line. Do the same on the other side and then go ahead and cut.
Your cereal box should now look like my picture.  You can use the box as your stencil on the paper of your choice.  Grab some glue or a tape runner and attach the paper to the box.  All done!  Easy  - right??

Last year at this time I made a Nest Ring

Two years ago at this time I made Personalized Door Plaques

  1. Don't you just LOVE those cookbooks?!?!? I don't own one, but borrowed one from the public library and fell in head over heels.
