Etched Wine Bottles

I love how my Etched Wine Bottles came out but they were almost impossible to photograph correctly.  I really hope you are able to get an idea of how stinkin' cute these are.  I had been wanting to making these for a while but we drink a decent amount of red wine around here and only buy it by the box  we didn't have any wine bottles laying around - lucky for me I found a neighbor that had a few to spare.  These are the three I have done for now but I definitely plan on adding to the collection.  So far I have "Cheers", "Salud" and "L'Chaim."  These bottles were actually pretty easy to make.  This was only my second time using etching cream and I was nervous that I may make a mistake but the cream is super easy to use.  For this project I used the Martha Stewart stencils that I received for these fall crafts, some etching cream, burlap and ribbon.

First I stuck the self adhesive stencils to the bottles and then put a thick layer of etching cream on the stencils, I let it sit for about five minutes and then simply washed it off and peeled away the stencil.

After that I cut out a few pieces f the burlap and hot glued them around the tops of the bottles.

And added a burgundy ribbon to finish them off.

At first I was going to put these on top of the cabinets in the kitchen but I realized it was too dark up there and you couldn't read them, so I ended up using them to fill the empty neglected spaces in our wine rack.

  1. Cute! I'm a big fan of re-purposing and this is a great idea!

  2. super cute bottles!! i love the etching on the bottles and the little bow detail you added is so cute

  3. These turned out so cute. I just did some glass etching for the first time myself. Now I just need to blog about it...And, you are right it is so easy!
