Sweet Girl and I made these delicious Candy Filled Brownies yesterday. We were hoping to find a way to use up some of the candy that we have from Halloween. I'm not sure if our attempt really worked, while we were able to use up some of the candy we also ended up with a tray of brownies - I think the sweets are multiplying instead of going away. Also - while I may be able to easily walk away from the kids candy loot - I have never been able to turn down a brownie. These Candy Filled Brownies were definitely a great dessert discovery but they were also a great diet sabotage for me - oh well....did I mention they are soooo gooood!
I saw Carla Hall make something similar to this on The Chew the other day. She made a homemade brownie batter but I just went with a store bought mix. I also followed her suggestion of freezing the candy bars before chopping them in the food processor - be forewarned it will be very loud but you won't have to worry about caramel and nougat sticking to things. Sweet Girl opted for Snickers and Twix bars in our creation - you can use whatever you would like. These are so easy to throw together...enjoy!!!
What you need:
1 Box of brownie mix and the ingredients listed on the box
Frozen chocolate bars (we used 6 minis)
What you do:
Follow the directions on the box as far as preheating and mixing up your batter.
Add your frozen candy bars to the food processor and chop until finely ground.
Pour half your batter into a greased baking pan and top with all of your chopped candy.
Then pour the rest of your batter on top of the candy and bake following directions on the box.
You can see the layer of melted Snickers and Twix bars in this picture.
