Bottle Cap Photos

Normally Fridays are dedicated to "Your Recipe My Kitchen" posts but I don't have any of those.  I do however have a fun craft for you...
Have you seen my Key Chain?  I made this a couple of years ago when the bottle cap necklaces were everywhere (we made a lot of those too.) Unfortunately, I don't have the step by step pictures but it's pretty easy to do so I'll explain.

First you will want to gather your supplies:
some bottle caps
a 1" circle punch
photos
clear tape
any embellishments (I added a small rhinestone to Sweet Girls photo)

If your bottle caps still have the plastic liners inside them you will want to remove them here's how: I place a few caps on a cookie sheet lined wit tin foil and place them in a 250 degree oven for 5 minutes take them out and remove with tweezers.  They should come out easily if not put them back in the oven for a few more minutes.  I have read that you can also place them on a coffee pot warmer but I haven't tried this yet.
Now you have the option of leaving your cap as is or flattening it a bit so the edges fan out - I flatten mine - just bang it a few times with a mallet (or whatever you have handy.)
Use the circle punch to cut out your photo.  Next you will want to cover your 1" photo with tape (this is to make sure the Triple Thick doesn't damage the photo.) Glue the photo down in the bottle cap (be sure to use a glue that dries clear in case any of the glue comes over the sides of the picture.)  Once dry, cover with some Triple Thick and add any embellishments (I just dropped my rhinestone right on top) let dry completely before handling.

(sorry about the blurry pic)

You can glue a magnet on to the back if you want or turn it into a key chain like I did.  At this point I grabbed an awl and just pushed it through the spot I wanted the hole to be in.  Loop on to your key chain and you are all done!

  4. Soo adorable and what a great way to carry your kids photos without the bulkiness of a photo frame keychain. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing with the Pink Hippo party!
