We eat a lot of beans around here so I stock up on the cans whenever I see good prices. Today I decided to make them myself. The canned beans are loaded with sodium, so I wanted an alternative. I made these in the slow cooker and it was so easy. I think I'll keep doing this. This week it was great northern beans. Here's how you do it.
Rinse and soak 1 lb of beans overnight covered with about 3inches of water. The next morning drain and rinse the beans and put them in the slow cooker. Add about 7 cups of water and a bay leaf and set it on high. Check back in about 4 hours and they should be ready.
